Great models

This book offers great opportunities for learning the way kids like best: by DOING! They will build paper models layer by layer of the human body's different systems. I will upload some photos into Customer Images.

At our house, the 7 year old is the most enthusiastic, but the 6th grader is the real champ.

These models are great visual aids for presentations or science fair projects, and would make very nice Open House projects for classrooms.

The book offers many opportunities to round out your child's learning with journal assignments, paired learning, group learning, and skits. Also offers lots of information on what illegal drug use does to the body systems.

Great for homeschoolers!

If you have been frustrated using a text book to teach your children anatomy, you've got to try this book! It gets the kids involved instead of just reading big words out of a book. I have 13,12, and 8 year old boys, and they all enjoy the making of the models. I highly recommend this book.

This book is so much fun!

My four daughters and I have had so much fun making these models. I've recommended it to several friends and they've also loved it. The Body Book makes basic anatomy more understandable for those who are hands-on learners. The text also includes information about each part of the body studied. All of the student pages are reproducible. I copied ours onto ordinary 24 lb. copy paper which worked okay. But I would recommend using cardstock for at least the skeleton portion of the model if you want it to hold up long term.

About the Author
Stephanie Brown, PhD, is a clinician, teacher, researcher, consultant, and author in the field of alcoholism. She founded the Alcohol Clinic at Stanford University Medical Center in 1977 and served as its director for 8 years. A Research Associate at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, California, where she is Co-Director of the Family Recovery Project, Dr. Brown also maintains a private practice and directs the Addictions Institute in Menlo Park, California.

Virginia Lewis, PhD, a licensed psychologist, educational psychologist, and marriage, family, and child counselor, is Co-Director of the Family Recovery Project and Senior Research Fellow at the Mental Research Institute. In addition to her full-time private practice, she gives lectures and workshops on the Family Recovery Project and is coordinating and analyzing test data for journal publications. She has coauthored and been awarded several research grants with associates at the Mental Research Institute over the past 20 years, and has lent her skills to a number of research projects.

What Happen When The Drinking Stop?

This is a very good book that has a lot of good information for understanding what happens when the alcoholic stops drinking and the stages of recovery. I am a therapist that works at Life Management Counseling Center in Torrance CA, and I recommend this book to the family and couples
who find themselves in this situation.

Another Winner!!

Dan Walsh is gifted with the pen. His words leave me breathless at times. When I open a book penned by Dan I know I'm in for a rich blessing. I too know when I close the last page I'm going to be left wanting more.

I am seriously blown away by the novels Dan pens. He is truly a gifted storyteller. This is one of those novels that stays with you after you have closed the last page. He gives the reader so much to think about. Life lessons are grown throughout the pages. The story begins and you know without a doubt you are about to embark on a journey no one else is able to provide.

This novel is rich. The characters are undeniably relatable. The story begins in 1962. I wasn't even born yet, but Dan is able to bring me back in time to a place that has left a mark in history forever.

I loved, "What Follows After". The title and cover are so telling. This is another inviting novel that I couldn't put down. This is an emotional read. One that enters the heart of family. What we allow others to see and what we would rather keep secret. But as we see, nothing is off limits. The more we try to cover up the more the Lord moves to uncover so healing and freedom may come.

We learn what really matters. We learn to let go of the seemingly important of the world and grasp a hold of the real and lasting. Yes! This is why I love novels penned by Dan Walsh. He takes the reader on a journey and you come out with a new perspective and appreciation for what really matters.

Walsh is book-category indistinct; other than "PRETTY DARN GOOD"

`What Follows After' is a family situation bizarre in 1962 yet readily believable today. Dan Walsh writes a story of one Florida family emergency pinnacle happening at the same time as the Cuban Missile Crisis unfolds. Me being a high school student at that time, I can remember the stress shared by all Americans. Walsh has written that anxiety and more into his novel. Fast paced and tense reading.
With a story setting in Florida with all its water features, it stands to reason the mystery contains numerous "red herrings" for the FBI to investigate. Engaging suspense; at times so intense it twisted every ounce of compassion from this reader's heart.

Dan Walsh again turns a fictional novel into a story that necessitates intellectual thought. Not preachy, but perhaps lessons to be learned - and inspiration gained. A Christian book that reaches beyond the borders of a single faith/religion.
Readers from 14 to grandpas [like me] will be re-prioritizing life choices after the final pages.
Choose between ink-on-pages; eBook; or library loan--but make sure you don't miss this family thriller.

Absolutely Outstanding! His Best Yet!

I love to read a Dan Walsh novel. It seems as if he just knows how to tug on your heart strings.

I finished this book in less than 24 hours, heart pounding the last few chapters, too.

Gina and Scott Harrison have been separated for 10 months but they're pretending to everyone they know, acting married at school and family functions. They've also instructed their 2 sons to lie and pretend, too.

Colt and Timmy decide to run away and make their parents see how much they should be together. Only things go horribly wrong. Scott and Gina must come face to face with the life they've created for these boys.

No more from me, don't want to spoil this book for you.

This is one of Dan Walsh's best books, in my opinion. I was crying, yelling, cheering at different points of this book.

The theme running throughout this book is tht God can use bad situations to grow His children, even work it out for their own good.

The secondary characters are just wonderful also. They seemed like treasured friends at the end of the book.

This is an amazing book and I'm so glad I had the chance to read it. If you don't, you'll miss a blessing.

WOW, and I mean WOW-- DON'T BUY THE KINDLE EDITION

I just bought the Kindle edition of this book for school, and I immediately regret it. This is absolutely the worst e-book, of any kind, I have ever purchased. It is utterly hateful to try to search for assignments for school-- the breadth and depth of the incompetence that went into this production is breathtaking: the table of contents, index, and search function all appear to have been designed to stymie any hapless reader. I should have bought the hardcover: this book should be held up as a shining example of how NOT to do an e-book. In fact, I will be going down to the bookstore, cursing all the way, and will purchase this book again-- in its late twentieth century form. Thanks for nothing.

This is a gold mine of information to understand all of the systems and approaches available from the perspective of the interconnectedness of the whole body. Valuable for students of osteopathy and physical therapy.

Missing a lot of important topics, not a "foundational" text by any means

I am somewhat torn with how to rate this book so I opted for 3 stars instead of 2. The problem is, there is a lot of good information in the book. I'm in my second year of medical school and it is cited quite a bit. However, there are still a lot of problems with it.

Despite having a lot of good detail, some very important topics are surprising lacking, almost to the point of omission. For example, consider counterstrain. If you look in the index, there are 2 entries for counterstrain. When you turn to the first page, the book gives a definition of a Jones counterstrain tenderpoint and then a trigger point. Very little additional information is provided beyond a basic 1-2 sentence definition. The second page actually doesn't deal with counterstrain at all and is instead a discussion of sprains and strains. Counterstrain is a major component of OMT and there is hardly any coverage of the topic whatsoever! You may say that if you want information about counterstrain you could get Jones' book or another book on OMT. However, this book is supposed to address foundational topics in Osteopathic medicine... and gives virtually no information about counterstrain! This is not the only gross topical omission either!

Furthermore, there are several pediatric topics my medical school instructor referred us to the second edition of this book for information because apparently it was cut out off the 3rd edition. Who knows why they cut out information so important that we were advised to get a previous edition of the book.

I realize this book is only on its 3rd edition, but it is supposed to be the foundations textbook for Osteopathic Medicine. In its current form, I don't believe it is. Honestly, if I didn't already own it, I wouldn't buy it. I was advised to buy it before I matriculated to medical school and feel like it was a poor use of my money. Maybe subsequent editions will improve, but at this point the book is missing too many important things to be an accurate reflection of its title.

One of My Very Favorites!

Without a doubt, I'm an inspirational-book-reading-junkie. I've honestly read hundreds of motivational/self-help/inspirational books through the years, and this is hands-down one of the very best I've read!

Lewis Timberlake did an amazing job compiling his own inspirational thoughts and wisdom with that of so many others. I've read this book many times through, yet I always seem to find something new whenever I open it. My book has been highlighted and underlined throughout from my noting of favorite parts. In fact, I've enjoyed it so much that I've just purchased ten more copies so I can share them as gifts with family and friends. Thank you, Mr. Timberlake, for your wonderful work!

The Cost of So Called Success

In this book, Lowen speaks to the divide in our culture between success and satisfaction. While psychology is sometimes thought to be of use only to the under-performing, here Lowen really shows the cost of so-called success. This book is about heart disease in the broadest sense possible. Because heart disease is perceived at times to disproportionately afflict successful white males, it gets a lot of attention but not much understanding. Lowen fills the gap. If you are coming to this book because of an interest in the heart and this will be your first Alexander Lowen book, get ready for a treat, because, as always, he is very clear and unabashed about his stance toward life and health.

Dr Sinatra, the cardiologist who wrote the preface to this book, also wrote Heartbreak and Heart Disease: A Mind/Body Prescription for Healing the Heart which also tackles issues of success and heart disease from a bio-energetic perspective.

Highly Recommended F-14 Sqn paint schemes documentation

Highly Recommended. Extremely well-researched, organized, and presented. Focus is paint schemes, not squadron histories or model numbers, although there's good text presented in those areas. Even covers paint schemes of "temporary" LANTFLT Tomcat squadrons like VF-211 & VF-213 while they were in LANTFLT. Also includes Reserve & NATC squadrons. 464 ebook "pages". Excellent picture quality - I could even "drill down" on my iPAD enough to read aircrew names on the canopy rails and BUNO's. Only negatives are (1) no Table of Contents or Index; (2) can't print any pages or individual photographs. However, "bookmark" flag with "Go To" feature allows easy return to pages of interest.

Awesome book for Tomcat fans!

I am so excited about this book that I am posting my review even before I finish it because what I have seen so far is good enough to surmise that the rest of it is just as good. I have been waiting for this to come out since they first announced it. I am such a huge fan of the Tomcat, as my model kit stash would attest, that I eagerly grab up any reference material I can find.

This is such a comprehensive reference that it is simply amazing they were able to collect so many high-quality photos in one book. But far beyond being a reference, this is a history book of the Atlantic F-14 squadrons, with great info on the lineage of each one.

They really have out done themselves on this book. I cannot wait for Part 2 now! I cannot recommend this book enough, even if you do not build model kits, if you are just a fan of the Tomcat or of Naval Aviation you need this book.

It works great on my Kindle, the format is more like what you get in a magazine, which kind of threw me at first, but when I flip my Kindle on its side it really works spectacularly. I also viewed it on my tablet and it is amazing on it as well, but I prefer my Kindle because it is so much lighter. So great job guys, you really did a great job with this one!

Doesn't Download On Desktop Kindle

Do not buy this if you are going to view on a Mac Desktop Kindle. It does not work period. The first time I tried to download the book it would not work. I spent about a 1 1/2 hours on the phone with some nice people from India and they could not figure it out. Tech support called me about 2 days later and said to try it again that it was a problem on the publishers end. I did try and after about 2 hours it finally downloaded. The pictures were fantastic as other reviewers have stated. Now several days later I went back to look at the book again and guess what? It doesn't work it's as though I never downloaded it and now it won't download again. So if you don't mind Amazon ripping you off of $10.00 go ahead and try it.

About the Author
Bruce Pearson grew up in Bloomington, Minnesota. He has taught at the elementary, junior high, high school, and college levels for over 40 years. In December, 1998, Dr. Pearson, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music education, was awarded the prestigious Midwest International Band and Orchestra Director s Clinic Medal of Honor. In 2007, Dr. Pearson received St. Cloud State University s Distinguished Alumni Award. That same year he was recognized as the first Patron for the Maryborough Conference in Queensland, Australia. Dr. Pearson continues to serve as a guest lecturer, clinician, and conductor in addition to his work as s composer, arranger, and author.

Ryan Nowlin, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, holds both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Bowling Green State University (Ohio). He has taught for ten years at the beginning, middle school, high school, and college levels, including wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, and marching band direction. Mr. Nowlin was an instructor of conducting and band scoring at BGSU and was recently recognized as one of the university s Accomplished Graduates. In 2010, Mr. Nowlin joined "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, where he currently serves as staff arranger.

Required for school

This book is fine, but a good portion of it is review from the previous book. My son needs this for school. I do like that it has the CD and play along tracks.
